Wearing a huge sumo outfit is very heavy (44 pounds / 20 kg) and slows the handler down a lot. The outfit also limits the way you can use your body: you turn around a lot slower, the movement of your feet is limited and it’s very hard to move your arms. That is why you need to focus on the most important elements in your handling:

• Movement - the timing and direction of your movement is very important to your dog. Even more so when the other elements are limited.
• Position - How you position yourself will determine how easily your dog can follow your handling.
